KORBA: Coal workers from across Chhattisgarh and neighboring mining zones are gearing up for a massive three-day demonstration in the national capital. The Coal Workers Union, affiliated with the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), has announced a major “Delhi Gherao” planned for December 1, 2, and 3. The union has set a target of mobilizing 815 representatives from various operational areas to march to Delhi.

Ground-level preparations and worker mobilizations are rapidly expanding across key mining belts, including Korba, Hasdeo, Sohagpur, Johilla, Bhatgaon, and Baikunthpur.
Strategy Formulated in Virtual Meeting
The blueprint for the agitation was finalized during a virtual meeting of the CITU office-bearers’ council chaired by Comrade Devendra Kumar Nirala. Key national and state leaders, including All India CITU Secretary Comrade Pramod Pradhan and Chhattisgarh CITU General Secretary Comrade S.N. Banerjee, participated in the deliberations.
CITU General Secretary V.M. Manohar urged all regional units to complete logistics without delay. Key directives issued by the organization include:

Zone-Wise Allocation Target
To ensure balanced representation across all coalfields, CITU has allocated specific targets totaling 815 delegates:
Local field meetings will commence shortly across all coal units to mobilize workers at the grass-roots level, setting the stage for a strong show of strength in Delhi this December.
