Sakti, Chhattisgarh | April 15 (Jay Mehta) : A horrific industrial accident occurred at the Vedanta Power Plant located in Singhitarai village, Sakti district, following a massive boiler explosion. According to preliminary reports, the blast has claimed the lives of 13 laborers, while approximately 50 others sustained injuries.
Most of the deceased and injured workers are reported to be migrants from West Bengal.
PM Modi and CM Sai Express Deep Condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief over the loss of lives, stating that the entire nation stands with the bereaved families. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai termed the incident “extremely painful.” He has directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the victims, emphasizing that any negligence in treatment will not be tolerated.
Ex-gratia and Financial Assistance
Both the Central and State governments have announced immediate financial relief for the victims:

PMO (PMNRF): ₹2,00,000 for the kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

State Government: CM Sai announced ₹5,00,000 for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for each injured worker.
High-Level Probe Ordered

Magisterial Inquiry: Sakti Collector Amrit Vikas Toppo has ordered a magisterial probe to investigate the cause of the explosion and prevent future recurrences.

Commissioner Inquiry: CM Sai has directed the Bilaspur Commissioner to conduct a thorough investigation, promising strict action against anyone found guilty of negligence.
Rescue Operations and Medical Support
Collector Amrit Vikas Toppo and SP Prafull Kumar Thakur personally led the rescue operations at the site. The injured have been rushed to private hospitals in Raigarh for specialized treatment. The district administration remains on high alert, with SP Thakur confirming that monitoring is ongoing to ensure all necessary resources are provided to the survivors.
